Ben Andrews tallied two goals on seven shots and had one ground ball.
George Psaltis recorded two goals on six shots.
Zack Tucker registered the loss, as he played 55:57 minutes, made 15 saves, and allowed 10 goals.
The Monarchs opened the scoring with a man-up goal at the 12:21 mark,
George Psaltis answered for the Marlins with an unassisted goal on the man advantage to tie the game at 1-1. Methodist scored to lead 2-1, but VWU's
Ben Andrews responded with an assisted goal from
Carlton Benton Jr. to tie the game at 2-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Virginia Wesleyan fought hard in the second quarter, and
Parker Lucas scored to put the Marlins up 3-2 with 8:06 in the quarter. VWU went on to score a man-down goal from
Carlton Benton Jr. with an assist from
Roman Foster to put the Marlins up 4-2 at the 5:03 mark. The Monarchs answered with a goal at the 3:01 mark to give the Marlins a 4-3 lead at the break.
After halftime, Methodist scored two straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. However,
Ben Andrews scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 5-5 with 8:13 in the quarter. The Monarchs scored three unanswered goals to take an 8-5 lead with 2:24 left in the third.
Maddox Coelho scored for Virginia Wesleyan with 33 seconds left in the third quarter to bring the score to 8-6.
In the final frame, Methodist scored a man-up goal to extend their lead to 9-6, but Cooper Seider scored during a man advantage with an assist from
Liam Murphy to bring the score to 9-7. Psaltis scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to 9-8. The Monarchs scored at the 5:00 mark to lead 10-9. Virginia Wesleyan did not give up though and
Carlton Benton Jr. scored with an assist from Sebastien Reynolds to bring the score to 10-9 with 4:39 left. The Marlins were unable to find the back of the net the rest of the game and Methodist won 10-9.
