Women’s Basketball Ranked No. 9 in the ODAC Preseason Poll

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team was selected ninth in the ODAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's 12 Head Coaches.

Washington & Lee was tabbed first in the poll with 120 pts and 10 first place votes, while Randolph-Macon claimed second with 108 points and two first place votes, followed by Bridgewater College with 102 points, and rounding out the top four is Roanoke with 91 points. Virginia Wesleyan sits in ninth with 39 points.

Virginia Wesleyan is coming off a 5-19 season, going 1-15 in the ODAC for the 2024-25 season. However, as a team, they made great strides, scoring 11 points more than last season, increasing their field goal percentage by eight percent, increased their rebounding margin from -11 to +1.4, increasing their points off turnovers by 3.0 points, increasing their steals per game by 1.1, and tallying 1.4 more blocks than they did the previous year.

The Marlins are returning four of their top five scorers from last season. Brianna Long scored the most points of the returners last season with 261 points, followed by Bre Robinson, Jaiden Hunter, and Maesyn Blaylock.
