The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team was selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA Tournament for the 16th time in program history.
This will be the fourth time in the last five seasons they have gone to the NCAA Championship Tournament. The Marlins are one of three ODAC teams to make it to the NCAA in 2025. Washington and Lee were selected to host, and Bridgewater will head to Case Western Reserve University.
Virginia Wesleyan was selected to travel to the host team, Johns Hopkins, in the four-team pod. The host Johns Hopkins will face St. John Fisher on Saturday, November 15th, with a 5pm start, and the Marlins will face Stevens afterward at 7pm. Then, the winners will face off on Sunday, November 16th, for a 7pm start time.
Virginia Wesleyan was the runner-up in the ODAC Championship tournament, falling to Washington & Lee on penalties. They come into the NCAA tournament on an eight-game unbeaten streak and finished the season with a 15-3-3 overall record with an 8-1-1 conference record in the ODAC. They have the second-best defense in the conference, only letting in 13 goals all season, while scoring 44 goals this season to average 2.1 goals per contest.
Shyenne Diaz leads the Marlins on offense as she has nine goals and three assists on the season, with four game-winning goals.
Alexis Manfredi is second on the team with seven goals and one assist, and three game-winning goals.
Alaina Alston tallied double-digit points with six goals and one assist, and she is tied with her teammate
Kaylyn Seitz, who has registered five goals and three assists this season.
