The Virginia Wesleyan women's swim team dominated Gallaudet on Saturday, earning a 152–54 team victory.
The Marlins opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay as
Suzanna Fernandez, Lana Macchi,
Lora Young, and
Emery Garza finished first in 2:01.08. The "B" relay of
Erin Beaudry,
Abigail Carlson,
Ally Peck, and
Ella Boal took second in 2:10.36.
In individual events,
Erin Beaudry won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:13.12, followed closely by
Sarah Czapp in second at 2:14.28 and
Ally Peck in third at 2:20.37.
Suzanna Fernandez earned another win in the 50-yard backstroke, clocking 32.24.
Abigail Carlson took first in the 50-yard breaststroke at 35.02, and
Lora Young grabbed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.45.
In the 50-yard freestyle,
Emery Garza sprinted to first in 25.79, with Lana Macchi second in 27.34 and
Ella Boal third in 32.14.
Sarah Czapp captured first in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.77, while Boal followed in second at 1:08.21. Macchi then added another victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:15.46 finish, and Fernandez picked up her second win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:21.91.
Czapp, Young, and Peck swept the top three spots in the 50-yard butterfly with times of 30.78, 30.91, and 33.01, respectively. In the 100-yard individual medley, Garza took first in 1:07.27, Carlson placed second in 1:10.96, and Beaudry followed in third at 1:11.48.
The women closed the meet with a strong performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The "A" relay team of Macchi, Czapp, Carlson, and Garza placed first with a time of 1:49.25, while the "B" team of Fernandez, Beaudry, Young, and Boal took second in 1:56.15.
