Marlins Play to Scoreless Draw at Lynchburg

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (8-2-2, ODAC 3-1-1) played to a 0-0 draw against Lynchburg College (8-1-2, ODAC 3-0-1) on Wednesday evening at Shellenberger Field in Lynchburg, Va.

Virginia Wesleyan generated steady pressure in the first half, recording five shots, four on goal, and four corner kicks while searching for a breakthrough. Goalkeeper play and solid defense from both teams kept the scoreless tie through the opening 45 minutes.

The Marlins continued to press in the second half, adding three more shots, three additional corners, and ten fouls committed while working to create scoring opportunities. Virginia Wesleyan goalkeeper, Allie Greco, made two saves in the period, helping the team secure the shutout.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m., for Senior Day at Foster Field at the Tassos Paphitis Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach, Va., when the Marlins host Averett University in ODAC play.
