The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (8-2-1, 3-1-0) posted a dominant 4-0 victory over Shenandoah University (3-6-3, 1-2-0) on Saturday afternoon at Foster Field at the Tassos Paphitis Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach.
After a scoreless first half, the Marlins erupted for four goals in the second period to take full control of the match.
Shyenne Diaz scored three times in an 11-minute span, including two goals just two minutes apart to open the scoring.
Alexis Manfredi added the fourth goal late in the half, capping the offensive surge.
Virginia Wesleyan out shot Shenandoah 24-16 overall, putting 10 shots on frame, and earned eight corner kicks. The Marlins' defense held firm as well, limiting quality chances while goalkeepers,
Allie Greco and
Riley Keefe, combined for five saves to secure the clean sheet.
Virginia Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday, October 8, at 6:00 p.m., when the Marlins travel to Lynchburg, Va. to face the University of Lynchburg in ODAC play.
