The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (0-2, 0-1 ODAC) traveled to Lexington, Va. on Saturday afternoon to take on Washington and Lee (2-0, 1-0 ODAC), falling 7-0.
Washington and Lee picked up 6-3 wins at the #1 and #3 doubles positions to secure the doubles point.
Tuva Flink and
Zoe Vliegen fought at the top spot but fell 6-3 to Margarette Berdy and Sarah Ladd.
At the second position,
Jette Hafermann and
Lexi Hackbirth were blanked 6-0 by Annie Jennings and Greer Webb, while
Jette Dammeier and Menna Lennon also battled at #3 doubles but fell 6-3 to Jordan Kach and Lulu Koziol.
In singles play, the Generals picked up wins across all six courts. Margarette Berdy defeated Flink 6-1, 6-4 at #1 singles while Annie Jennings topped Vliegen 6-3, 6-4 at the second line. At #3, Hafermann fell 6-1, 6-3 to Webb and Lennon lost 6-1, 6-1 to Kach at the fourth spot.
Jette Dammeier was defeated 6-0, 6-1 by Koziol at #5, and
Mikisha Thomas fell 6-0, 6-3 to Jackie Daynovsky at #6 singles.
Despite the score, the Marlins battled hard on every court, showing grit and determination against a top opponent.
