The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team (1-2, 0-1 ODAC) hosted Elizabeth City State University at the Everett Tennis Center and won 6-1.
In singles play,
Zoe Vliegen cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the top spot over Kala Price. Next to finish was
Meena Lennon at #4 followed by
Jette Hafermann at #2, who only dropped three games in their victories.
Mikisha Thomas earned a straight sets win against Kennedy Rollins at the sixth position to clinch the match for the Marlins, putting them ahead 4-0.
Lexi Hackbirth finished her singles next with a 6-1, 6-4 score over Micah Williams at #5.
Jette Dammeier fell just short at the third position to Nadhira Durham before the Marlins transitioned to doubles play.
Tuva Flink and
Zoe Vliegen paired at #1 doubles, winning 6-3 over Price and Freytes.
Meena Lennon and
Jette Dammeier followed suit with a victory of the same score over Durham and Renner at the second spot; and
Isabel Gamez and
Mikisha Thomas teamed up to seal the Marlin victory with a 6-2 score over Williams and Rollins at #3.
