The Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team (13-3-2, 8-1-1 ODAC) continued its strong conference play with a 2-0 shutout victory over Randolph on Wednesday evening at WildCat Stadium.
The Marlins struck early in the first half when
Paige Bissell found the back of the net in the 14th minute, giving VWU a 1-0 lead. The goal was Bissell's second of the season and set the tone for a dominant performance.
Virginia Wesleyan added insurance in the 71st minute as
Alaina Alston netted her sixth goal of the year, assisted by Bissell. The connection sealed the win.
VWU controlled possession throughout the match, out shooting Randolph 10-4 and holding a commanding 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Marlins' defense was once again stellar, limiting the Wildcats to just one shot in the second half.

Riley Keefe recorded four saves en route to her eighth shutout of the season, supported by a disciplined back line led by Bissell,
Stephanie Koblish, and
Alex Ortega.
With the win, Virginia Wesleyan improves to 8-1-1 in ODAC play and strengthens its position heading into postseason competition.
