The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (10-3-2, ODAC 5-1-1) earned its fifth ODAC victory of the season with a 1–0 road win over Guilford College (8-5-2, ODAC 2-5-0) on Saturday evening at Armfield Athletic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
After a scoreless first half, the Marlins continued to press offensively, out shooting the Quakers 24–8 throughout the match. The breakthrough came in the 79th minute when
Alaina Alston netted her fifth goal of the season, capitalizing on a loose ball in the box after a collision between Guilford's goalkeeper and defender.
Goalkeeper
Riley Keefe anchored the back line with a strong performance, playing all 90 minutes and recording four saves to earn the shutout. Virginia Wesleyan also dominated in set pieces, holding an 8–0 advantage in corner kicks and maintaining control of possession for most of the game.
With the win, the Marlins improve to 5–1–1 in ODAC play and continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
