The Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball team (4-6, 0-4 ODAC) returned to conference play at Washington and Lee University, losing 87-40 to the #14 Generals.

Keagan Schwab and Bre Robinson were the top scorers for the Marlins, each recording eight points. Schwab went 3-for-9 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line; she registered one rebound, one assist, and one block. Robinson shot 4-for-7 from the field and tallied three rebounds. Brianna Long contributed offensively and defensively, shooting 3-for-5 from the field, grabbed six rebounds, and three steals.

The Marlins started the game well as Jaiden Hunter made the first bucket of the afternoon, but the Generals quickly responded with a three-pointer to take the lead for the rest of the game. Bre Robinson made a layup with 6:55 on the clock to put the Marlins just behind Washington and Lee 8-6, but the Generals seized momentum, outscoring VWU 19-2 for the remainder of the first quarter to lead 27-8.

Jada Norman started the second quarter with a three-pointer for the Marlins. Washington and Lee committed a turnover, and Keagan Schwab capitalized with a jumper, bringing the score to 27-13. The teams exchanged layups with Maesyn Blaylock executing for VWU with 7:11 on the clock. For the next three minutes, the Generals went on a 10-0 scoring run to go up 39-15. Keagan Schwab made both of her foul shots for the Marlins to end the scoring drought, but Washington and Lee continued their dominance for the remainder of the second quarter, entering halftime with a 54-21 lead.

The third quarter saw competitive play on both sides of the court. Virginia Wesleyan's Brianna Long and Bre Robinson made back-to-back layups to bring the score to 58-27 with the Generals still in a comfortable lead. Mckenzie Wiggins put forward a strong showing at the end of the quarter as she capitalized on a layup for the three-point play. The Marlins showcased their best performance in the third quarter, scoring thirteen points themselves and keeping Washington and Lee to fifteen. At the end of the third quarter, the Generals led 69-34.

Virginia Wesleyan strung together six points in the first three minutes of the final quarter, but fell short in last seven minutes of play. Washington and Lee finished the game with a score of 87-40. The Marlins made 28 of their 40 points in the paint and had twelve bench points total.
