Women's Basketball Falls to Conference Opponent Randolph

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team (5-11, 1-8 ODAC) was defeated by Randolph 66-49. 

The Marlins offense was led by Bre Robinson, who scored 11 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the field and shot 1-for-1 from the free throw line; tallied eight rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and one assist. Brianna Long had eight points, shooting 2-for-6 and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe; grabbed 10 rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal. Jaiden Hunter registered eight points and shot 4-for-5 from the field; had four rebounds, two steals, and one block. 

The Wildcats started the game well building a 7-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Randolph continued their good run of play and went on a 5-2 run to lead 12-3 with 4:19 left in the first quarter. Virginia Wesleyan rallied and outscored the Wildcats 5-2 the rest of the quarter to bring the score to 14-9. 

Randolph started the second quarter with a three to lead 17-9, but the Marlins responded with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 17-14. The Wildcats regained their momentum and outscored VWU 14-2 the rest of the quarter to lead 31-16 at halftime.

Both teams came out shooting in the third quarter, with both teams making a three to bring the score to 34-19. However, the Wildcats went on a 10-0 run to lead 44-19 at the 5:29 mark in the third quarter. The Marlins countered with a 6-4 run to bring the score to 48-25 heading into the final frame. 

In the fourth quarter, Virginia Wesleyan outscored the Wildcats 8-4 to bring the score to 52-33. Over the next two minutes, the teams traded buckets to bring the score to 59-38. In the last three minutes of the game, the Marlins outscored Randolph 11-7 to cut the lead to 66-49. However, the lead was too great for the Marlins to mount a comeback and the hosts won 66-49.
