The Comets started strong and within three minutes of the first half as Chelsea Vilca capitalized on a pass by Claire O'Sullivan and won her one on one battle with Marlins goalie to take an early 1-0 lead.
Virginia Wesleyan's Emma Shuey dribbled through the Comets' defense unassisted and sunk a goal to tie the game 1-1.
The second half was highly contested until Kaley Robinson scored a game winning goal for the Comets with minutes left in the game. The Marlins ended the game with several scoring opportunities, but the Comets' defense outmatched the Marlins, sealing the 2-1 victory.
