The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team (0-1) lost to Hood College 1-0.
Berkley Miller recorded her first minutes in net for the Marlins and tallied seven saves.
Hood came out strong and midway through the first quarter, the Blazers took a 1-0 lead.
In the second quarter, the Marlins came back out on a mission outshot Hood 6-1, with four penalty corners compared to the Blazers' three. Despite the momentum shift the Marlins were down 1-0 at halftime.
An even third quarter as neither team had the advantage, and in the fourth the Marlins' keeper stood tall making four saves for a total of eight saves on the day.
