The Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team (2-3-3, 2-0 ODAC) defeated conference opponent EMU 4-0.
Emma Nguyen and Austumn Horst scored their first collegiate goal in the win.
The Marlins wasted no time finding the back of the net in the fourth minute of play to lead 1-0 as
Alexis Manfredi gathered a rebounded shot inside the 18 and shot it past the keeper to lead 1-0. Then, in the 18th minute,
Janessa Lowe got the ball after a corner kick at the top of the 18-yard box from
Grayson Yeager and hit a left footed shot into the top right corner of the net to double Virginia Wesleyan's lead. The Marlins made some subs after jumping out to a 2-0 lead and in the 41st minute,
Kalyn Byrd hit a right footed cross to the near post to find
Emma Nguyen who headed it into the net to improve their lead to 3-0.
In the second half, the Virginia Wesleyan offense took its foot off the gas but outshot the Royals 6-1.
Autumn Horst scored a goal as
Krista Anderson dribbled down the left side of the field and hit a low cross that found Horst who slotted the ball into the right side of the net to seal the 4-0 win for Virginia Wesleyan.
