Box Score The Virginia Wesleyan Men's Soccer team won its season opener 3-0 against Hardin-Simmons.  

With the win, Shane Kohler records his first win as the Marlins head coach. 

The match was tightly contested in the first half with both teams guarding intently to their defensive stands. Everett McCloskey made two powerful runs which both resulted in two shots right to the goalpost to start the 2^nd half. Eventually, VWU got their act together and made multiple impressive runs to further elevate their momentum.  
               
First-year forward, Nolan Schulte broke the deadlock as he finished a cross from Midfielder Everett McCloskey to put the Marlins up 1-0 in the 60th minute.
               
Alex Moody took advantage of a free kick from just outside the box and capitalized to put the Marlins up 2-0 in the 64th minute.
            
Finally, first-year Midfielder, Josh Nevins headed a through ball from Noah Flower into the back of the net to cap off the game in the 89^th minute.
