The Virginia Wesleyan men's lacrosse team (4-4, 1-1 ODAC) fell to conference opponent Roanoke College 29-8.
The Maroons started strong with four straight goals before the Marlins'
Sam Edwards scored a man-up goal to cut the lead to 4-1.
Tyler Noll scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead down to 5-2, and
Mark Sprague scored to bring the score to 6-3. Roanoke held a 7-3 lead after the first quarter.
Virginia Wesleyan was outscored 10-1 with the lone goal for the Marlins coming from
Jackson Rockhill with an assist from
Sam Edwards. The Maroons went into halftime up 17-4.
VWU came out of the break going on a 2-1 run, with goals from
Daniel Auxier and
Kris Barnum with an assist from
Tyler Noll to cut the lead to 18-6. Roanoke outscored the Marlins 7-1 the rest of the lead quarter to lead 25-7 going into the final frame.
Jackson Dinger scored the lone goal from the Marlins in the fourth and Roanoke went on to win 29-8.
Daniel Auxier led the team with two goals on five shots and had one ground ball,
Sam Edwards had two points with one goal and one assist, and two ground balls, and
Tyler Noll tallied one goal, one assist, and one ground ball.
Zack Tucker recorded the loss as he had 18 goals against and made 12 saves, and
Kris Barnum registered one goal, a team-high 12 ground balls, and went 19-for-37 on face offs.
