The Virginia Wesleyan baseball team (4-15-1, 3-3-1 ODAC) split their doubled header against conference opponent Bridgewater College, dropping game one 10-8, and taking game two 9-5.

Game One:

Bridgewater took a four-run lead in the top of the second, with the Marlins scoring one run in response in the bottom of the inning. Chris Mitchell Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Tanner Clements. 

Bridgewater added two more runs in the third, and another in the top of the 6th. The Marlins scored twice in the bottom of the sixth as Tanner Clements grounded to shortstop and scored Trent Hanchey from third, and then Connor Hall singled through the left side to drive in Matt Sinko. 

Bridgewater scored three more runs in the top of the eight to take a 10-3 lead. 

The Marlin mustered a rally in the bottom of the ninth, scoring five runs and falling just short of their opponents. Trent Hanchey doubled to left field and scored Samuel Kasprow and Jaelen Hines. Matt Sinko singled up the middle and scored Trent Hanchey. Tanner Clements tripled to right field and scored Matt Sinko before scoring on an error by the shortstop that allowed Connor Hall to reach first. 

Tanner Clements went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, hitting a triple as well. Connor Hall also went 3-for-5 and drove in two RBIs as well. 

Cam Nolet got the loss as he faced 31 batters over 5.1 innings and gave up seven hits, seven walks, and seven runs while striking out six. Nick Beatty only gave up two hits and a walk over 1.2 innings in relief, and Dominick Spinoso gave up zero hits and one strikeout over 1.0 inning.

Game Two: 

The Marlins looked to turn around their fortunes from game one, and in the first inning, Matt Sinko hit a two-run homer that also scored Sam Kasprow. 

In the second, Chris Mitchell Jr. scored on a passed ball, Matt Sinko walked with the bases loaded to score Thomas Crandall, followed by a Tanner Clements single through the left side to score Trent Hanchey and Sam Kasprow to extend the Marlins lead to 6-0.

Bridgewater scored a run in the top of the third, and the Marlins answered in the fourth with a single to center field by Matt Sinko that scored Jalen Hines. 

Bridgewater cut the Marlins' lead to 7-5 in a four-run fifth inning. The Marlins added two more runs in the sixth on a right-field single by Connor Hall that scored Trent Hanchey and Jalen Hines to take a 9-5 lead.

Matt Sinko helped power the Marlins with a 2-for-3 game, getting walked twice, hitting a home run, and scoring 4 RBIs. Tanner Clements also went 3-for-5 and drove in 2 RBIs to help the Marlins emerge victorious.

Sal Lettieri started for the Marlins, pitching 3.0 innings, and giving up two hits, three walks, and one run on the way to his first win of the season. In relief, Micah Fox pitched 3.0 innings allowing two hits, and earned two strikeouts for an effective outing. Freshman Ryan Cowell closed things out in the ninth, allowing two hits and one walk, and got out of a jam in the ninth, as the bases were loaded with one out.
