The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team (4-3) was defeated by Pfeiffer University 22-9.
Mark Sprague led the offense as he tallied seven points with four goals and three assists, and one ground ball,
Sam Edwards had two assists and one ground ball, and
Myzaiah Garris recorded two goals.
The Falcons scored the first two games of the contest before a goal from
Myzaiah Garris cut Pfeiffers' lead in half. Pfeiffer scored to extend their lead to 3-1.
Mark Sprague scored his first goal of the game, at the 8:24 mark to bring the score to 3-2. Sprague registered his second goal of the quarter off a feed from Sam Edward. Pfeiffer held a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.
The Marlins scored two unanswered goals to tie the game at 5-5.
Jackson Rockhill scored the first goal assisted by Sprague, and Sprague scored the second with a feed from Edwards. The Falcons responded with two unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead with 4:26 left in the first half. However, VWU responded with a goal from
Daniel Auxier assisted by Sprague while man-up. Pfeiffer scored one goal before the break to lead 8-6.
Pfeiffer outscored Virginia Wesleyan 10-0 in the third quarter to take an 18-6 lead into the final frame.
Myzaiah Garris scored his second goal of the game with 12:18 left in the game to bring the score to 19-7.
Harlan Menger scored in the fourth off an assist from Sprague, and Sprague registered his fourth goal of the contest with four minutes left in the game to cut the host lead to 22-9.
Zack Tucker took the loss in the net as he had 18 goals against and made nine saves.
Floyd Wells led the team on defense with four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
