VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams continued to set new personal records on the track and in the field on Sunday at the 2nd Annual Richard Drake Invitational. The meet, hosted by the Marlins, is named in honor of long-time coach and mentor, Richard Drake, who volunteered with the Marlins for several seasons before retiring from coaching.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
Jalen Davis had a huge PR in the men's shot put increasing his mark from last week by 0.71 meters from 12.03m to 12.74m.
Jordan Gilliam,
Opeyemi Kareem-ojo, and
D'Marco Hill also set new personal records in the men's shot put. Gilliam threw a big PR in the weight throw increasing his furthest mark by about a full meter going fro 10.73m to 11.62m.
High jumper
Terrian Smith tied the school record with a jump of 1.95m. His mark ties with Will Eckard who set the record back in 2019 at the CNU Holiday Open.
The men's jumpers had a good day in the pit with senior
Geni Roberts leading the way with a pair of second place finishes in the long and triple jump events. Rookie
Isaiah Bullock increased his PR from 13.65m to 13.82m and now sits tied 37th in the national standings in men's triple jump.

The Marlins return to the track on Friday and Saturday, February 11 - 12, when they compete in the Kenneth Giles Invitational hosted by Norfolk State University at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, VA.
