NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Marlins Men's Tennis team had their first showing of the season against Division III 37th nationally ranked opponent, Christopher Newport University. The teams competed indoors at James River Country Club on Saturday, February 4.
INSIDE THE MATCH
Felix Bevc and
Alen Curovic battled hard at the top spot in doubles, earning two match points in the tiebreak. Struggling to close out, they ultimately lost 6-8 against the CNU pair of Nesh Kumarasen and Alec Strause.
Freshman
Alen Curovic was just a few points away from victory in his singles match at the third spot against Ahun Vodela, but fell short, losing 6-4, 4-6, 7-10.
The highlight of the day came when
Francis Cabaddu defeated Vincent Truong 6-1, 6-2 at the #4 singles spot for the team's lone victory.

Despite the 1-8 loss, the Marlins competed well and will use this loss as momentum for the rest of the season. Next up, the Marlins will face Division I Norfolk State in a
scrimmage on February 15.
