ROANOKE, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team's season came to a close as the Marlins fell to Hollins University 59-49 in a Saturday road match in Roanoke, VA.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hollins held an early lead 8-3 to open the first quarter but Virginia Wesleyan pulled within three points following a layup by
Terina Dandridge with five and a half to play. Hollins pulled away from there taking a 15-point lead into the second quarter.
The Marlins came out in the second quarter to cut down Hollins' lead to five points, 26-21 with two minutes on the clock, following a 14-4 run. In the final two minutes of the second quarter, Hollins pulled ahead by 11 taking a 34-23 lead into halftime.
Hollins managed to keep Virginia Wesleyan at arms reach maintaining a double-digit lead until the last three seconds of the third quarter when VWU's Natlia Collier hit a three-pointer that put the score at 41-33.
The Marlins cut the lead to single digits a number of times in the fourth quarter, but Hollins' lead was too much for VWU to chop down as HU won 59-49.
KEY STATS
The Marlins were led by
Meadow Dyke with 15 points while
Nat Collier collected 10 points of her own.
Sarah Ellis led the team with 13 rebounds while
Adaje Williams contributed nine points and eight rebounds.
