Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team defeated the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University in three sets on Tuesday evening in ODAC competition at TowneBank Arena in Virginia Beach, VA.

MATCH RECAP
The first set began with the teams trading points back and forth with the score sitting 5-5 through the early serves. The Marlins pulled ahead 9-6 after a 4-1 run before the Royals evened out the score at nine all a few serves later. Virginia Wesleyan took the momentum scoring four consecutive points taking a 13-9 lead and opened up a seven-point lead, 18-11, following a 5-2 rally. VWU held on to close out the set on a seven to four run, taking set one 25-15.
The Marlins held on to a narrow 5-4 lead to start the second set before VWU took an 8-4 lead. EMU clawed their way back to tie the set at 10 all, but VWU went on a 10-point run taking a 20-10 lead led by a Haley Sutton service run. Five kills, two aces, and three EMU errors aided in the run. The Royals scored four more points the remainder of the set but the Marlins put down five of their own to win set two 25-14.
EMU led early in the third set with scores sitting at 6-4, 9-7, and 10-8 before VWU went on a 5-0 run taking a 13-10 lead. Eastern Mennonite pulled within one point, 13-12, but Virginia Wesleyan closed out the set on a 12-6 run to win the final set 25-18.
