FIRST HALF
- The Marlins struck early in the match scoring their first goal of the contest seven minutes into the first half. Shyenne Diaz corralled the ball from a pair of Averett defenders and sent it past the Cougar keeper into the back of the net putting the Marlins up.
- Virginia Wesleyan out-shot Averett seven to five in the opening half.
SECOND HALF
- Shortly after the teams came back out from the halftime break, the Marlins struck again as Julia Marrone collected a forward pass from Alexis Miller. Marrone made the keeper miss a slide tackle leaving the goal empty for the shot.
- About four minutes later Miller played the ball forward through the legs of a defender to Diaz who made the Cougar keeper leave the goal unattended as she tried to make the save but was too far out of the goal to stop the shot.
KEY STATS
- Shyenne Diaz scored two of the Marlin's three goals with Julia Marrone scoring the third.
