Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team fell in a four-set battle against Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday evening in ODAC competition in Ashland, VA.

The first set began with the Yellow Jackets going on a 6-2 run before the Marlins climbed back within one 11-10 following an 8-5 run from the teams. A 4-1 run by R-MC put the Jackets up 15-11, and they later led 21-16 after back-to-back kills. Virginia Wesleyan rallied back to pull within two, 24-22, after going on a 6-3 rally. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets put down the final point to take set one 25-22.
Virginia Wesleyan answered back in the second set with an 8-3 start. The Marlins led 11-6 after a block from Breana Brooks and Taylor Paquette, but the Yellow Jackets fought their way back to knot the score at 15 all. The teams remained even through 19 all, until Virginia Wesleyan closed out the set on a 6-1 run to win 25-20.
R-MC led 5-3 early in the second set before VWU scored four in a row to take a 7-5 lead. Randolph-Macon scored seven-consecutive points to take a 12-7 lead. They extended their lead to eight points, 17-9 after scoring five points in a row. The Marlins scored eight points throughout the remainder of the set, as did the Yellow Jackets, resulting in R-MC winning set three 25-17.
The Marlins led early in set four holding a slim 3-1 lead which the Yellow Jackets overcame taking a 6-4 advantage. R-MC led by five, 12-7, before VWU pulled within one, 14-13 following a 6-2 run. Randolph-Macon reopened a six-point lead, 20-14, en route to closing out the set on a 5-3 run putting the final score at 25-17.

Virginia Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they return home to TowneBank Arena for a long home stand that begins with the Quakers of Guilford College. First serve between VWU and GC is set for 12 PM
