VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team defeated the Panthers of Ferrum College 18-7 on Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach, VA.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Marlins claimed the early lead scoring nine goals in the opening half of play. Virginia Wesleyan posted five goals in the first quarter and four in the second quarter puling the score at 9-0 at the break.
Tommy Faiella scored the first goal just under the 10 minute mark. Mark Sprague scored about two minutes later, Daniel Auxier followed by adding a pair of back-to-back goals putting the score at 4-0. Chris Lindemeyer scored the last goal of the opening quarter.
Four Marlins scored in the second quarter including Joey Rayman, Faiella, Jackson Rockhill, and Jackson Dinger.
Coming out of the half, Auxier scored for the Marlins putting them up 10-0, but the Panthers found the scoreboard about four minutes later to trail by nine, 10-1. VWU went on a 5-0 run taking a 15-1 lead as Faiella, Sprague, Nathan Sheirburn, Rayman, and Rockhill all contributed to the run. Ferrum got a goal in just before time expired that put the score at 15-2.
VWU scored three more goals in the fourth quarter with two coming from Dinger and one from Lindemeyer. Ferrum scored five goals that put the final score at 18-7.

The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Saturday, April 16, when they return home to Birdsong Field. Face off between the Marlins and Panthers is set on 1 PM.
