Box Score LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan fell to the No. 5 ranked Hornets from the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday afternoon in a midweek ODAC match-up in Lynchburg, VA. VWU scored three runs against the Hornets in the 9-3 loss.

The Marlins started off hot putting up two runs over the Hornets in the top of the first inning taking a 2-0 lead. Matt Sinko drove in the pair of RBI on a single to right field bringing home Jaelen Hines and Trent Hanchey.
After a scoreless second inning for both teams, the Hornets broke onto the score board in the bottom of the third with an RBI double to left field putting the score at 2-1.
Virginia Wesleyan added another run in the top of the fourth as Miles Christian hit a single to right field with the bases loaded to drive in John Bastiaans giving the Marlins a two-run lead.
Lynchburg leap frogged Virginia Wesleyan in the bottom of the fourth with a three RBI home run by Carrson Atkins to give the Hornets a 4-3 lead.
From there the hornets pulled away scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and solo runs in the bottom half of the sixth and eighth innings putting the final score at 9-3.
