Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan split their doubleheader against the Quakers of Guilford College at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA on Saturday afternoon. Guilford won game one 11-10, while Virginia Wesleyan won game two 12-1.

The Marlins were the first to score in game one as a Sam Kasprow single up the middle scored Jaelen Hines.
The Quakers responded in the top of the second inning evening the score at one all, before Guilford took the lead, 4-1, with three runs in the top of the third.
Virginia Wesleyan pulled within one, 4-3, after scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning as Connor Hall scored a pair of runs off a single to center field which drove in Miles Christian and Hines.
Guilford added seven runs to their tally, four in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth, taking an 11-3 lead.
The Marlins rallied in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings climbing within one run, but ran out of time falling 11-10.
Matt Sinko hit a solo home run in the seventh inning that started the VWU rally. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Connor Hall hit a grand slam home run driving in four RBI with Jake Ness, Ronaldo Del Duca, and Miles Christian scoring on the play. The last two runs for the Marlins came in the bottom of the ninth with Hines singling to drive in Del Duca and Christian scoring on a passed ball.

The Marlins controlled game two from the start taking an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. A Matt Sinko sac fly to right field scored Jaelen Hines for the first run, while a Trent Hanchey single scored Connor Hall.
VWU continued their control of the game with three runs in the second inning. A Ryan Ballard double to center field scored Miles Christian, while a Sinko single scored a pair of RBI with Ballard and Hines scoring on the play.
Virginia Wesleyan pulled ahead 9-0 with four runs in the bottom of the third, before adding two more in the bottom of the fourth to lead 11-0. A Ballard double to right field scored Ronaldo Del Duca, while a Hall double to left field score Hines and Sam Kasprow for two more. Sinko drove in Hall with a triple to deep center field for the fourth run of the third.
In the fourth, Ballard singled to the shortstop which scored Garrett Lyons, while Christian came home on a Hines single through the left side.
The last Marlin run was scored in the bottom of the sixth inning as Kasprow doubled to right field scoring Hines.
The Quakers fended off the shutout with a single run in the top of the seventh inning to put the score at 12-1.
The game was called after seven innings as a pair of Marlins got injured in the top of the eighth inning after both went for a fly ball in left field.
