Box Score 2 SALEM, Virginia - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan dropped both games in the doubleheader at Roanoke College in Salem, VA on Saturday afternoon.

The Maroons got things going early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. After a scoreless second inning, Roanoke added five more runs taking a 7-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
Virginia Wesleyan closed the gap in the top of the fourth inning as VWU posted four runs in the top half of the inning. The Marlins first run came in on a bases loaded walk that scored Connor Hall. Shortly thereafter, Sam Kasprow hit a double to right center field that cleared the bases sending Jake Ness, Ronaldo Del Duca, and John Bastiaans all across home plate.
The Maroons scored one in the bottom of the fifth pushing their lead up to 8-4, but VWU closed the lead to three after Hall homered over the right field wall for the Marlins fifth and final run.
Roanoke closed the game out with three runs, two in the sixth and one in the eighth, to win game one 11-5.

Roanoke again took an early lead with a single run in the bottom of the first inning. Neither team scored in the second inning, while the Marlins evened the score at one all with a solo run in the top of the third as Sam Kasprow singled to center field to drive in Miles Christian.
Three innings passed before either team scored with the Maroons breaking the tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Roanoke scored a third in the bottom of the seventh to lead 3-1.
Virginia Wesleyan took the lead in the top of the eighth after scoring three runs going ahead 4-3. Two runs came in following a home run by Jaelen Hines over the center field wall that drove in Christian. Garrett Lyons scored the last VWU run with a single to right field that scored Kasprow.
The Maroons had a big bottom of the eighth where they scored six runs reclaiming the lead 9-4. Roanoke held Virginia Wesleyan off the board in the top of the ninth to claim the win.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action again on Tuesday when they head up to Ashland, VA, to face the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
