Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan defeated the Generals of Washington & Lee their doubleheader at Perry Field in TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA on Saturday afternoon. The Marlins dropped a pair of games 15-6 and 6-1 (11 inn.) in the doubleheader.

The Generals got things started early with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, but the Marlins responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to take a 3-2 lead into the second inning.
Jaelen Hines came home to score the first run on an error by the shortstop, while Trent Hanchey scored on a Sam Kasprow double and Kasprow came home on a Miles Christian single to right center field.
WLU took the lead in the top of the third inning putting two runs on the board. VWU tied the score at four all in the bottom og the fourth when Garrett Lyons hit a solo home run over the let center field wall.
The Generals reclaimed the lead scoring eight runs over the next two innings, two in the fifth and six in the top of the sixth, to go up 12-4.
The Marlins sent one home in the seventh as Matt Sinko scored off a Connor Hall single up the middle, but Washington & Lee put the game out of reach with three more runs over the last two innings taking a 15-5 lead.
VWU got the final run across the plate in the bottom of the ninth as Michael Burton doubled down the right field line to send Jaelen Harris home.

The second game of the double header was a pitching battle between VWU's CJ Morris and WLU's Thomas Haller.
Morris threw 10 innings giving up one run on six hits while striking out five. Haller threw 7.1 innings giving up one run on five hits.
Washington & Lee scored first in the fourth inning on a sac fly to left field to take the 1-0 lead. Virgina Wesleyan evened the score in the bottom of the eighth as Matt Sinko hit a sacfly to center that drove in Trent Hanchey putting the score at 1-1.
Neither team could find a game-winning run in the regulation nine innings despite the Marlins leaving 12 runners on the bags, including the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning.
It was not until the top of the 11th that the Generals were able to break the tie scoring five runs in the half inning. WLU got things going with four hits that drove in the first two and from there the waters opened with Washington & Lee adding three more to win the game 6-1.
