BRIDGEWATER, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team defeated to the Eagles of Bridgewater College 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon in Bridgewater, VA.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- The Marlins controlled the pace of the match early on winning two of the three doubles matches, taking a 2-1 team lead into the singles bouts.
- Anna Rogers and Christine Zalameda won at No. 1 by a score of 8-6, while Alexa Brewster and Maya Brown won at No. 2, 8-4.
- Kristina Abrams and Amanda Stegemann fell at No. 3 doubles 8-1
- In the singles bouts, Virginia Wesleyan and Bridgewater split evenly down the middle, with VWU winning the top three flights and BC winning the bottom three.
- Brewster held her opponent to just two games at No. 1 singles winning 6-0, 6-2.
- Zalameda recorded a win at No.2 singles, also giving up two games, to win 6-1, 6-1.
- Anna Rogers won at No. 3 singles giving up three games to her opponent winnings 6-1, 6-2.
- Kristina Abrams, who played in the No. 4 singles spot, fell 6-3, 6-3.
- Amanda Stegemann battled at the No. 5 singles spot but fell 6-2, 6-4.
- Kaitlyn Totman dropped her match at No. 6 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2.
