LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team collected its first ODAC win of the season against the WildCats of Randolph College on Wednesday afternoon in Lynchburg, VA.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The WildCats scored first a minute and a half into the action to go up 1-0. Virginia Wesleyan went off on a five goal run taking a 5-1 lead with eight minutes still remaining in the opening quarter. Mark Sprague, Nathan Sheirburn, Joey Rayman, Chris Lindemeyer, and Jackson Dinger all scored in the rally for the Marlins. RC added another goal at the seven minute mark putting the score at 5-2, before VWU added four more goals to their total taking a 9-2 lead into the second quarter. Sheirburn, Sprague, and Lindemeyer each scored their second goals in the run while Sam Edwards collected his first of the game.
Virginia Wesleyan scored six unanswered goals in the second quarter as the Marlins took a 15-2 lead into the halftime break. Sprague added a pair of goals, while Lindemeyer scored his third goal for a hat trick. Rayman put his second goal of the game in the back of the net, while Braden Knight, Daniel Auxier, and Ryan Morris all collected their first goals of the game. Morris' goal was the first of his career for the Marlin defender.
Between the two teams only three goals were scored in the third quarter with two in the Marlins favor and one for the WildCats. Rayman scored his third goal of the game while Lindemeyer recorded his fourth goal.
In the final quarter, Virginia Wesleyan added five more goals to it total while Randolph scored four goals. Lindemeyer scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, his fifth of the match. Auxier added a pair of goals to record his first hat trick of his career. Seth Bearb scored once in the fourth quarter as did Edwards, as the Marlins won their first ODAC match 22-7.
- Chris Lindemeyer led the Marlins with five goals and an assist for six points.
- Mark Sprague also recorded six points on four goals an a pair of assists.
- Daniel Auxier tallied his first career hat trick with three goals on the day.
- Nathan Sheirburn, Sam Edwards, and Joey Rayman each put a pair of goals in the back of the net while each adding an assist.
- Jackson Dinger also tallied four points on the day off one goal and three assists.
- Josh van Zuylen played 30 minutes in goal giving up two goals and making three saves.
- Allen Shaw and Zack Tucker split the remaining 30 minutes in net playing 15 minutes each. Shaw allowed one goal while making two saves, while Tucker gave up four goals and made one save.

The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Saturday, April 2, when they hit the road again heading up to Winchester, VA. The Marlins will face off against the Hornets of Shenandoah University at 4 PM.
