STAUNTON, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team defeated to the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin University on Thursday afternoon in Staunton, VA.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- The Marlins controlled the pace of the match early on winning all the three doubles matches, all by a score of 8-2.
- Anna Rogers and Christine Zalameda won at No. 1, while Sophia Bibbo and Maya Brown won at No. 2.
- Alexa Brewster and Celeste Rucker won at No. 3 doubles in Rucker's tennis debut.
- In the singles bouts, Virginia Wesleyan claimed all six matches to win the game 9-0.
- Brewster held her opponent scoreless at No. 1 singles winning 6-0, 6-0, while Zalameda recorded a win by the same score at No.2 singles.
- Anna Rogers won at No. 3 singles giving up just one game to her opponent 6-1, 6-0.
- Kristina Abrams, who played in the No. 4 singles spot, won 6-2, 6-1.
- Kaitlyn Totman picked up a win with a score of 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5, while Maya Brown rounded out the action with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

The Marlins return to the court again next Wednesday, March 30, when they travel up to Bridgewater, VA for a conference match against the Eagles of Bridgewater College. Match time is set for 4 PM.
