The Eagles broke onto the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. The Marlins responded in the top of the third with a single run trying the score as Jaelen Hines scored on a fielding error by the third baseman.
Bridgewater, in their next three appearances to the plate, scored six runs including four in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-1 lead. Virginia Wesleyan added one run in the top of the sixth as Trent Hanchey came home on a Garrett Lyons single to left field that put the score at 7-2.
The Eagles added four more in the bottom of the sixth going up 11-2 before the Marlins posted three runs in the top of the seventh. Connor Hall scored on a fielders choice during Hines' at-bat. Ryan Ballard came home on a wild pitch, and Hines followed after Hanchey singled to center field.
Bridgewater added one more in the bottom of the seventh and then three in the bottom of the eighth to claim a 15-5 win.

Bridgewater started off with a single run in the bottom of the first inning, but Virginia Wesleyan answered with two runs in the top of the second as back-to-back singles by Connor Hall and Miles Christian scored Garrett Lyons and Hall.
Neither team scored in the third inning and the Marlins came up strong in the top of the fourth sending six runs across the plate. Christian hit a bases loaded triple down the right field line to score JD Robinson, Hall, and Ronaldo Del Duca. A Jaelen Hines single to right scored Christian from third for the fourth run of the inning and Trent Hanchey came to the plate to hit a two RBI homerun over the right field wall to score himself and Hines putting the Marlins up 8-1.
Another inning went by scoreless for both teams in the fifth inning and in the top of the sixth, VWU added a single run as a Matt Sinko double to left center field scored Zion Ross driving the score up to 9-1.
Two more Marlin runs came across the plate in the top of the seventh as Hines hit a triple to center field that scored Hall and Del Duca putting VWU up 11-1.
VWU scored its last run of the game in the top of the eighth as Sinko hit a sac infield fly that scored Hanchey.
- The Marlins scored 12 runs on 12 hits. Sinko and Del Duca both doubled in the game while Hines and Christian both hit triples. Hanchey had the lone home run in the game.
- C.J. Morris pitched seven innings giving up one run on six hits. He struck out three and walked two.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action tomorrow as they compete against Cross Bay rival Christopher Newport in Newport News, VA. First pitch between the Captains and Marlins is slated for 1 PM.
