Box Score MONTGOMERY, Alabama - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team recorded it's first win of the season defeating the Hawks of Huntingdon College 15-9 on Sunday afternoon in Montgomery, AL. Joey Rayman scored eight goals in the game to lead the Marlins and becomes just the seventh person in program history to score eight or more in a game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Marlins scored first on a goal from Joey Rayman off a Ryan Morris assist. Huntingdon put two into the back of the net going up 2-1 before Virginia Wesleyan added a trio of goals taking a 4-2 lead with 2:45 in the first quarter. Mark Sprague and Tommy Faiella scored as well as Rayman with his second goal of the game. The Hawks snuck another goal in before the end of the quarter as the teams headed into the second with the score sitting at 4-3.
VWU outscored HC 5-1 in the second quarter to lead 9-4 at the halftime break. Chris Lindemeyer joined in the scoring, while Rayman added two more goals and Faiella and Sprague both netted their second goals of the game.
Coming out of the break the Marlins put a trio of shots into the back of the net going up 12-4 with 7:32 left in the third quarter. Sprague scored his third of the game, while Rayman posted two more goals driving his total to six goals. Huntingdon scored twice to close out the third quarter pulling within six goals, 12-6.
Both teams scored three goals in the final quarter with Virginia Wesleyan holding on to claim their first victory of the season 15-9. Rayman added two more goals putting his final tally at eight for the contest and Nathan Sheirburn added one as the fifth Marlin to score in the game.
