VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team defeated the Hawks of Chowan University, in their home opener at the Everett Tennis Center in Virginia Beach, VA.

- The Hawks got the best of the Marlins in doubles action winning 8-4 and 8-2 at doubles No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.
- In singles action, Alexa Brewster downed CU's No. 1 player 6-1, 6-1.
- Christine Zalameda picked up a win at singles No. 2 with scores of 6-4, 6-2.
- VWU collected team points from three forfeits by the Hawks at doubles No. 3 and singles No. 5 & No. 6.
- Anna Rogers dropped her match at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-3, while Amanda Stegemann took a game in each set falling 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 singles.
