VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's tennis team defeated Division II Chowan University 8-1 in their home opener at the Everett Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
- The Marlins started the match off on the right foot claiming all three doubles matches taking three team points into the singles flights.
- Felix Bevc and Mitchell Perry won at No. 1 doubles 8-1, while Henry West and Timothy Tep won No. 2 doubles 8-2.
- Sai Challagundla and Francis Cabaddu won by forfeit at doubles No. 3 as Chowan did not have players to fill a third doubles team.
- In the singles round, VWU won all but one singles match.
- Bevc took a 6-3, 6-3 decision over CU's Santino Joe Sormani at No. 1 singles.
- Tep, playing at No. 3, won his match 6-0, 6-2, while Cabaddu won the No. 4 singles bout 7-5, 6-2.
- West claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5, while Dheeraj Koritala won by forfeit at No. 6.
NEXT UP
The Marlins return to the courts again on Saturday, February 26, when they head up to Salisbury, Maryland for two matches. Their first contest of the day is at 11 AM against the Gophers of Goucher College. The Marlins will later in the day take on the host Sea Gulls of Salisbury at 4 PM.
