A trio of Marlins record double-digits in 76-60 loss to WLU Generals

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball fell to the Generals of Washington & Lee University 76-60 on Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Arena in Virginia Beach, VA. Sophomore Jada Norman scored 16 points while Meadow Dyke and Adaje Williams both added 11 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Generals lead early holding a 9-6 lead until the 3:59 mark of the first quarter when Asante Brown scored a jumper to put the Marlins ahead 10-9 with just under four minutes to play. WLU reclaimed the lead shortly after Brown's basket and closed out the first quarter on a 12-4 run taking a 21-14 lead into the second quarter. 

Washington and Lee opened up a ten-point lead in the second quarter scoring 14 points while holding Virginia Wesleyan to 11 points as the score sat at 35-25 at the halftime horn. 

The Generals saw their lead grow to 20 points in the third quarter as WLU added 22 points to their halftime score while the Marlins added 14 points. The Generals held a 57-39 lead heading into the final quarter. 

Virginia Wesleyan chipped away at Washington & Lee's lead pulling within 11 points, 69-58 as Jada Norman connected on a jumper with 3:09. In the final three minutes WLU scored seven more points while holding the Marlins to two putting the final score at 76-60. 

KEY STATS
The Marlins were led by sophomore Jada Norman who scored 16 points while Meadow Dyke and Adaje Williams both added 11 points. Sydnee Washington tallied seven assists, while Dyke collected four steals.

The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 7. when they travel to Harrisonburg, VA to face the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University. The tip-off is set for 7 PM.
