FERRUM, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan Men's basketball team defeated the Panthers from Ferrum College on Sunday afternoon in Ferrum, VA. The Marlins pulled away in the second half to win 80-68 holding off the Panthers to improve to 6-0, 1-0 on the season.
Khai Seargeant led VWU with 21 points while
Eric Rowland added 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ferrum took the early 7-0 lead and held on to the lead for the first nine minutes of action until a layup by
Amarion Wilson put the Marlins up 17-16 with 11:05 remaining in the opening half. Virginia Wesleyan led by as many as eight points, 28-20 (6:04), and as few as one, 32-31 (2:36), as VWU held on to take a 40-36 lead into halftime.
The Marlins and Panthers stayed within five points of each other for the first five minutes of the second half of action, with VWU leading 48-43 at 14:55 on the clock. Virginia Wesleyan opened up a 10-point lead at 12:20 mark when first-year
Khai Seargeant connected on a three-pointer. About four minutes later, a jumper by
Amari Moorer gave the Marlins a 67-52, 15-point lead. In the final eight minutes of the game, the Panthers edged the Marlins 16-13 on the scoreboard but VWU's lead was too great for FC to overcome as the Blue & Gray won 80-68.
