FIRST HALF
Ten minutes passed in the first half of action before a goal was scored, fortunately in the favor of the Marlins.
Juan Tovar settled a ball from
Nate Mitchell and launched a rocket from 30 yards out to take a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. The remaining 33 minutes of the period went scoreless for both teams despite the Marlins taking nine shots to the Quakers' three.
SECOND HALF
The teams came out of the break with urgency in their steps. Virginia Wesleyan added a security goal ten minutes into the second period as
Alex Moody corralled a rebounded shot and sent the ball past the Quaker keeper giving the Marlins a 2-0 lead. A little over 20 minutes passed before another goal was scored, this one again in favor of the Marlins.
Aria Kimiavi wrangled a loose ball off a saved
John-Michael Maldonado shot to score a third Virginia Wesleyan goal. Guilford eventually found the back of the net, six minutes after Virginia Wesleyan scored to put the final score at 3-1 as the Marlins claimed a senior day victory.
