Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team defeated the Eagles of Bridgewater College 89-67 on Wednesday evening at TowneBank Arena in Virginia Beach, VA, en route to collecting their first ODAC win of the season.

The Marlins opened up the early 6-2 lead off a pair of three pointers one each from
Miles Wallace and
Corey Pelham. The Eagles climbed within one point, 9-8, before back to back baskets by
Tim Fisher put VWU up by five, 13-8, with 15:16 left in the half. Over the next four minutes the Marlins added nine points to their total to open up a 10-point lead, 22-12, as
Anthony Jackson scored on a jumper in the paint. Seven consecutive points by Bridgewater cut Virginia Wesleyan's lead the three points, 22-19, with 9:27 on the clock. The teams traded baskets while the point spread remained at three points, 26-23, with five minutes left in the half. In the final five minutes of the half, VWU went on an 18-2 run opening a 17-point advantage as the teams headed into halftime with the Marlins leading 42-25.
VWU maintained an average lead of 20 points throughout the second half of the game with BC coming only as close as 14 points at the 11:29 mark. The Marlins largest lead of the game came at the 4:22 mark when a jumper by Eric Roland gave VWU a 31 point advantage, 79-48. At the final horn, Virginia Wesleyan led by 22 points claiming an 89-67 victory, their first ODAC win of the season.
MARLIN LEADERS
The Marlins were led by
Tim Fisher with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Corey Pelham collected 16 points including 12 off of four three pointers while
Anthony Jackson was the last to join double-digits with 10 points.
Amarion Wilson scored nine points shooting 100% on the night going 3-for-3 from the field and 3-for-3 at the line.
EAGLES LEADERS
The Eagles were led by Rashod Smith with 18 points and four assists. Aaron Oates was close behind with 17 points and a team high nine rebounds. Andy Pack was the last of the Eagles in double figures with 13 points and eight rebounds.
