Box Score RALEIGH, North Carolina- The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team defeated the Pacers of William Peace University in straight sets on Thursday evening at the Hermann Athletic Center in Raleigh, NC.

MATCH RECAP
The Marlins opened the first with a 3-1 lead but the Pacers came back to knot the score at five all and began a back and forth battle with VWU the continued through the remainder of the set. Virginia Wesleyan gained a two-point lead, 22-20, following three points in a row but William Peace countered with a 4-1 run to lead 24-23. The teams tied up the score at 24, 25, and 26 all but VWU managed to get two points back to back to win set one 28-26.
VWU came out in the second set to take an 8-3 lead. WPU fought back to pull within two, 16-14, following an 11-6 rally of their own, before the Marlins opened up a five-point advantage 20-15. The Pacers again climbed back within two, 22-20, but a pair of VWU kills from Morgan Ludovici and Abigail Mahoney followed by a Ludovici ace giving Virginia Wesleyan the 25-22 win.
The Marlins opened the third set with a 6-2 run before the Pacers came back within a point trailing 6-5. VWU reclaimed a six-point lead, 14-8, but WPU again rallied to climb back within two, 15-13. Virginia Wesleyan kicked things into gear scoring six unanswered points taking a 21-13 lead and closed out the set scoring four while also allowing four more points to be scored as the Marlins took the final set 25-17.

The Marlins are back on the court again this Saturday when they return home to face the Panthers of Ferrum College in an ODAC match up. First serve is set for 11 AM between the Panthers and Marlins.
