Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team drew against the Battling Bishops from North Carolina Wesleyan College 1-1 in double overtime on Wednesday evening, September 22, at Foster Field in Virginia Beach, VA.

FIRST HALF
- The Battling Bishops scored the lone goal in the first have in the 39th minute as the NCWC forward snuck the ball past the outstretched finger tips of Virginia Wesleyan keeper Griffin Potter.
SECOND HALF
- Virginia Wesleyan came out of halftime with a sense of urgency and they were rewarded in the 64th minute when Noah McBride scored his first goal of the season off the pass from Nathan Mitchell to knot the match at one all with 25 minutes left in regulation.
- Despite numerous opportunities, neither team managed to find the back of the net the remainder of the second half and thus went into overtime.
OVERTIME
- As the teams entered the first overtime period both sides were fighting for a goal. NCWC got off three shots while VWU only had two in the 10 minute period, none of which found the back of the net.
- The second overtime period was more dominated by the Marlins who had four shots to the Battling Bishops none, but again the goal was ever so elusive as time expired with both teams tied one goal apiece.
KEY STATS
- Everett McCloskey led VWU with five shots while Scott Signorelli and Nathan Mitchell each recorded four of thier own.
- Both teams were pretty even in their shot attempts with the Marlins recording 23 shots while the Battling Bishops took 28. VWU had nine shots on goal.
- Griffin Potter played all 110 minutes in goal earning the draw (T: 5-1-1) and made nine saves for the Marlins.
