Roberts earns All-American Honors; Lane places 13th at 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor T&F Championships

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The Virginia Wesleyan University Track & Field Marlins had two strong performances from their triple jumpers Geni Roberts and Jaylyn Lane, Roberts finished sixth to claim All-American honors while Lane placed 13th on the day.

MEET INFORMATION
The Marlins appeared at the NCAA's for the first time since 2017 when Marissa Coombs qualified to attend the national meet.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
Geni Roberts jumped first on the day and made the final flight after jumping in the preliminary rounds. Once in the finals round, on his third attempt, Roberts jumped an distance of 14.73M, which at the time of his jump was second best. The Mark at the end of the event placed the freshman from Ridgely, MD, sixth overall and earning him All-American honors.

Roberts' distance broke the school record and he becomes the highest placing male student-athlete surpassing Randy Lott who finished 7th in the men's 100 dash in 2014.

Jaylyn Lane jumped later in the day in the second flight of the women's long jump. Her jumps were delayed by a storm system that rolled through the area causing lightening delays. Once returning to the track, Lane had three passes and her best jump was 11.19M which was shy of advancing to the final flight.

UP NEXT
The Marlins season comes to an end at Nationals. They will return in the 21-22 school year to try compete for another chance at becoming NCAA All-Americans.
