LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan baseball team dropped their single midweek game against the Hornets from the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday afternoon in Lynchburg, VA.

• The Hornets started the game with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another solo run in the bottom second. 
• Neither team scored over the next two innings but Lynchburg added three more runs in the bottom fifth taking a 7-0 lead with four frames left to play. 
• UL took an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh but the Marlins answered putting two runs on the board in the top of the eighth to fend off the shutout. VWU's runs were scored by Samuel Kasprow and Miles Christian who both went home on errors by the Hornets. 
• Despite adding the two runs the Marlins could not catch the host Hornets and fell 8-2.

• Samuel Kasprow and Miles Christian scored the only two runs for the Marlins. 
• Christian Maloney (L: 0-2) threw 4.1 innings giving up six runs on six hits while striking out five.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, April 24, when they travel to Lexington, VA to take on the Generals of Washington and Lee University. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12 PM with game two to follow.
