Govan breaks VWU shot put and discus records; Marlins wrap up the 2021 CNU Captains Classic

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams completed day one of the 2021 CNU Captains Classic in Newport News, VA on Friday afternoon.

MEET INFORMATION
The meet consisted of competitors from Bryant and Stratton, Mary Washington, Salisbury, and Christopher Newport.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
Jaylyn Lane finished third in the 200M dash with her time of 25.74 and was only .08 seconds off the program record. She finished first in the women's triple jump and helped the 4x100 relay team to a second place finish.

Shirell Washington took fourth in the 100M dash, second in the 100M hurdles, second in triple jump, and was also a member of the 4x100M relay team that finished second.

Skyler Lattuca finished first in the men's 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10:14. Geni Roberts took first in the long jump and triple jump with marks of 6.77M and 14.25M.

CJ Govan took second in both the shot put and discus with marks of 13.39M and 40.11M.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to action again on Friday April 30 for day one of the 2021 ODAC Outdoor Championships.
