NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams completed day one of the 2021 CNU Captains Classic in Newport News, VA on Friday afternoon.

Friday's events consisted primarily of the throws and multi events as well as the long distance runs.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
CJ Govan threw a distance of 35.74M claiming a seventh place finish in the men's hammer throw to lead the Marlins in that event.
Andrew Taylor in the men's javelin threw a distance of 28.81M which beats his previous season high of 27.14M recorded at the Betty S. Rogers Meet.
New recruit Quimia Blackwell in her first meet with the Marlins threw a distance of 12.45M in the javelin and 22.50M in the hammer throw to lead VWU in both events for the women.
