Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's volleyball team defeated the Royals of Eastern Mennonite University in four sets in an ODAC Sunday matinee at TowneBank Arena in Virginia Beach, VA.

FIRST SET
- Set one began with the Marlins taking an early 7-3 lead.
- EMU pulled within three points, 10-7, but VWU responded with a 10-0 rally spurred by Haley Sutton's serving which saw seven consecutive aces against the Royal backline.
- The Royals earned three more points but the Marlins lead was too great as they closed out set one winning 25-10.
SECOND SET
- The Marlins lead 5-1 after the opening services but the Royals came back to knot the score at six all after four points for EMU, three off VWU errors.
- Virginia Wesleyan extended its lead back out to six points leading 13-7, following three Marlin kills, one from Kathryn Yeager and two From Nadia Scott.
- VWU led 18-9 following kills from Yeager and Greta Coss and another Sutton ace, but EMU clawed back within six points, 19-13 after a pair of attack errors from the Marlins.
- The Marlins were two points away, 23-15, from set point but allowed a pair to score for the Royals before closing out the set with two points to win set two 25-17.
THIRD SET
- Set three was back and fourth through the early services as the score sat knotted at four all through eight serves.
- VWU took a one-point lead, 5-4, but EMU responded with three in a row taking a 7-5 lead.
- The Royals took off from there opening up a seven point lead, 15-8, off a service ace.
- Virginia Wesleyan came as close as six points, trailing 21-15, but the Royals held on to take set three 25-18 and forcing a fourth set.
FOURTH SET
- After an early 4-3 lead by the Royals to open set four, the Marlins responded with five consecutive points to claim a 9-4 lead.
- Virginia Wesleyan increased its lead to nine points, 16-7, following three errors from EMU.
- VWU held a ten-point advantage, 20-10, after a pair of Sutton aces and a block from Coss, and the Marlins closed out the set on a 5-5 run to take set four 25-15 and the match 3-1.
KEY STATS
- Haley Sutton led the Marlins with a triple double including 22 assists, 10 digs, and a whopping 10 services aces which ties for second in program history in a match.
- Morgan Ludovici tallied a team-high nine kills while Nadia Scott, Greta Coss, and Kathryn Yeager all tied for second with eight.
- Cara Caruso led the back line with 14 digs while also contributing a service ace.
- Abigail Mahoney, six kills on nine attacks, posted a .677 hitting percentage in the game to lead the Marlins.
