Box Score LYNCHBURG, Virginia - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's soccer team fell to the Hornets from the University of Lynchburg 4-0 in Lynchburg, VA. The Marlins move to 0-2-2 while the Hornets are now 2-0-1.
GAME INFORMATION
Lynchburg was aggressive early putting the first point on the board in the 11th minute of action following the goal from Bhayle Kearns off the assist from Kenny Robles to give Lynchburg a 1-0 lead. UL added a second goal eight minutes later as Ben Mackey scored on his own to push the Hornets advantage to 2-0 over the Marlins in the first half of play. The Marlins kept the Hornets off the score board the remainder of the first half and blocked three of the four shots taken after the second goal while the fourth one went high.
In the second half, Lynchburg increased its lead to 3-0 in the 58th minute of play as Luke Mega scored off the assist by Ben Mackey. Twelve minutes later the Hornets added their fourth goal of the contest, as Luke Mega connected with the net after the pass from by Ben Mackey, his second assist of the game. The Marlins had five shots in the second half, all coming before the Hornets fourth goal, while UL added six more shot attempts, only one on goal, en route to the 4-0 Hornet win.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN LEADERS
Eight different Marlins each got a shot off in the game with only four shots coming on goal from Juan Tover,
Deryck Burczyk,
Thomas Perrigo, and
Kevin Prophet.
Griffin Potter (L: 0-1-2) took his first loss in goal playing 69:12 in net giving up all four goals while making two saves.
Zavian Dorah came in for the final 20:48 of the match to mae one save.
LYNCHBURG LEADERS
The Hornets were led by Ben Mackey with one goal and two assists in the match. Bhayle Kearns led UL with six shots including the lead-off goal. Kyle Gallagher (W: 2-0-1) earned the win playing 73:40 minutes in goal making three saves.

The Marlins return to action next Sunday when they travel back to the western half of the state to take on the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, VA. Kick off time for the match is set for 6 PM.
