• Neither team found a run through the first three innings despite the Marlins leaving one on base and the Tigers recording two hits and leaving three runners stranded.
• VWU left another runner on the bases in the top of the fourth while HSC broke the scorelessness of the game by putting two runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning.
• Virginia Wesleyan tallied a hit in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings leaving two batters on the bags but could not bat them round to find a score.
• Hampden-Sydney added a third run in the bottom of the seventh to lead 3-0 with two innings to play.
• The Tigers kept the Marlins off the board in the eighth while HSC added four more runs on the board to lead 7-0 and defeat the Marlins.
